The Symbolists movement was lead by the french in the impressionism improvement of the 19th century. This movement is essentially the opposite of Impressionism. The symbolists see the world for purely what it is. The most influental writer of the symbolists movement Charles Baudelaire who wrote the book Les Fleurs du mal, Flowers of Evil in English.
